Personal profile

After graduating in 1984 Stuart Wright worked both in the retail and hospitality design industry. By 1992 he had set up an Interior Design and Architectural Design partnership, focusing on hospitality and leisure design, including small cafes, hotels and theme parks.

In 1998 Stuart started working part time at university looking at employability aspects, student’s study and by 2004 was full time at ذكذكتسئµ. Between 2009-2013 he became programme leader for Interior Design Fda, BA and MDes and was instrumental in the validation and revalidation of these undergraduate programmes as well as the recent revalidation of the postgraduate MA Interior Design programme.

In 2013 Stuart’s focus moved further towards employability and the student’s experience becoming Employability Champion for the School of Design. By now employability had been fully integrated into the Interior Design curriculum, including live design projects and competitions. He has led students to win prestigious national competitions such as the BIID Student challenge two years in succession 2017 and 2018 and POPAI Student Design Award 2018 Gold, Silver and Bronze.

Stuart as Employability Champion is maintaining his strong links with industry and developing further employment opportunities for students within the School of Design through the support of various ذكذكتسئµ initiatives and schemes as well as external professional design practitioners. The goal is to achieve a full and diverse university experience for our students that leads to a fulfilling career.
