Dr Chijioke J. Nwalozie is a Senior Lecturer in Criminology at the Community and Criminal Justice Division, Faculty of Health and Life Sciences, ÐßÐßÊÓƵ (ÐßÐßÊÓƵ), Leicester.  Previously, he was Head of Criminology and Lecturer in Criminal Law at New College Stamford, Lincolnshire.

In addition, Chijioke had been a visiting Lecturer in Comparative Criminology at the University of Chester. Dr Nwalozie is an international criminal justice practitioner with expertise in global criminal justice systems. Prior to coming to the UK, Chijioke was the founding Director of Prisons Support Services, (formerly Prisons Charity Centre) Nigeria - a charity that provides free medical, legal and other welfare services to prison inmates.

His work in Nigeria attracted funding opportunities from one of the largest humanitarian charities in the world – Catholic Relief Services of America (CRS).

Dr Nwalozie believes strongly in the unbreakable link between theory and practice, hence he always brings his industry experience to bear on his lectures so as to enhance student experience.

His research interests include: global criminology (people trafficking, kidnapping, piracy, genocide, and terrorism), comparative criminology/criminal justice, corruption, youth crime and subcultures. In his PhD, he focussed on youth involvement in armed robbery.

Here at ÐßÐßÊÓƵ, Chijioke has developed a new module Crime, Deviance and Subcultures, based on his paper Rethinking Subculture and Subcultural Theory in the Study of Youth Crime – A Theoretical Discourse, published in January 2015.
