Personal profile

Lin Zou is a Lecturer at ذكذكتسئµ whose research bridges technology and human communication. He specializes in pragmatic analysis and reasoning in multimodal environments, exploring how meaning is conveyed across different forms of data and interaction. Leveraging creative computing techniques and the Data-Information-Knowledge-Wisdom (DIKW) model, he develops novel frameworks that integrate data analytics with semantic understanding. This interdisciplinary approach enables innovative solutions that combine insights from computer science, linguistics, and cognitive science. He earned his PhD at the University of Leicester, where he focused on applying creative computing to pragmatic language understanding.

Dr. Zou has authored over 20 conference and journal papers and frequently presents his work at conferences and workshops around the world. His contributions to creative computing and knowledge modelling have been widely recognized and have advanced the conversation on how machines interpret context and intent. He also brings a rich professional background beyond academia: originally trained in finance, he founded a technology startup early in his career, which honed his entrepreneurial and innovative skills with over 10 patterns. As a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (HEA), Zou remains committed to excellence in teaching and mentoring alongside his ongoing interdisciplinary research and the development of pragmatic reasoning systems. Currently, Lin leads the Advanced Database Management and Program module.
