The all-day Information and Networking Event on Tuesday, 6 March will explain to organisations how the new education route, recently launched by the Government, combines part-time university study with invaluable on-the-job training.

Apprentices will be tested on both academic learning and occupational competence in order to gain a full Bachelors or Master’s degree.

There will be a of speakers including an overview of what Degree Apprenticeships are and how they work, an opportunity for employers to ask questions and a number of breakout sessions to discuss apprenticeships with experts. Staff from Leicester College will also be talking about their proposed collaboration with ذكذكتسئµ.

The event will also discuss the planned launch of new Degree Apprenticeships to deliver the academic knowledge requirements of four professions. Degree Apprenticeships in Electronic Engineering, Cyber Security, Building Services Engineering and Digital and Technology Solutions are expected to start at ذكذكتسئµ in September.

The event is free-of-charge and coincides with National Apprenticeship week, which aims to promote apprenticeships as a pathway to a great career.

Nadia Omar, Technology – Business Development Manager at ذكذكتسئµ, said ذكذكتسئµ would work with employers, who were recruiting either new apprentices or upskilling their existing staff for professional development.

She said: “The benefits to apprenticeships are many. They are an effective way to internally develop talent, and to create a skilled and qualified workforce.

“Apprentices improve workplace motivation and productivity; they reduce staff turnover and recruitment costs and support employee satisfaction.

“Apprenticeships are growing in popularity and are taught via flexible learning so the needs of employers can be met.

“They are also a fantastic way for employers to show they believe in employees and value them going forward.”

The Government has pledged to have 3 million new apprenticeships in England by 2020. Degree Apprenticeships aim to meet the huge skills gap across all sectors at higher levels, in professional and technical roles.

Nadia said: “This is the first time we’ve held an event like this as we want to do all we can to highlight Degree Apprenticeships that have recently been introduced by the Government.

“We know employers have questions so we’ll do our best to make the new education route easier to understand for all.

“We have invited many businesses from across the region, but all employers are welcome to join us at the no obligation information session.”
