ذكذكتسئµ Leicester (ذكذكتسئµ) staff and students who have done exceptional work towards the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are to be recognised during a visit by United Nations officials.
The new awards initiative, launched today, is encouraging people to come forward and highlight the work being undertaken for a better future for all.
The SDG Impact Award will recognise outstanding work towards one or more of the 17 SDGs in research, teaching and extra-curricular activity at the university.
There are two categories SDG Impact of the Year for students and SDG Impact of the Year for staff. There will also be two runners-up awards.
The awards will be presented at a networking lunch on April 26, hosted by the United Nations Academic Impact Hub at ذكذكتسئµ.

Mark Charlton, Associate Director of Sustainable Development Goal Impact at ذكذكتسئµ, said: “Staff and students are doing some remarkable work towards the SDGs. Often this work goes unrecognised to this is a great opportunity to share work towards the SDGs.
“We are looking for impacts towards one or more SDGs, through teaching initiatives, research activity or extra-curricular activity, like volunteering, or projects outside of study.
“We have made the entry process as simple as possible to draw out as many examples as possible of good work being undertaken, no matter how big or small.”
ذكذكتسئµ is the only university in the UK to be a UN Academic Institute global hub for one of the Sustainable Development Goals – SDG 16 to promote peace, justice and strong institutions.
The SDG Impact Awards prize-giving is one of a number events during a visit to ذكذكتسئµ by two UN officials from the United Nations Headquarters in New York.
It will include a university-wide discussion on how we champion the SDGs.
The UN at ذكذكتسئµ: Accelerating Impact for the SDGs will take place on April 25 at 5.30pm in Hugh Aston 0.08.
Entries for the ذكذكتسئµ SDG Impact Awards open today and will close on Friday 21 April.
All entries should be sent to dmusdg16@dmu.ac.uk and include name, faculty, award category and a short (200 word) description of the work undertaken. Supporting evidence, such as weblinks and photographs, can also be attached.
Entries will be judged by a representative group from ذكذكتسئµ’s United Nations Academic Impact Hub for SDG 16, the Sustainability Team and .
Awards will be presented at an SDG Networking lunch at ذكذكتسئµ on Wednesday April 26 from 1pm.
