De Montfort Student’s Union (DSU) are launching a termly Part Time Jobs Fair next week to help students to secure part-time work that fits around their studies.
Many students decide to work part-time while studying to support their living and accommodation costs, and therefore it is important that students are empowered and know their rights within their part-time job, to be able to balance it with their studies.
There will be 14 employers at the Part Time Jobs Fair and the majority of job openings will pay at least the National Living Wage.
Students can give out their CVs and take home application forms, recruitment packs and sign up to student-friendly agencies to find both temporary, seasonal and part-time work.
Kate Askew, Union Development Officer at De Montfort Students’ Union said: “The university does some amazing work to support students on placements and graduate opportunities, but my focus is on those students who need part-time work to survive, do a food shop and pay rent, as one in four students do not see their student loan as it is spent on rent."
“We have taken pride in selecting employers to exhibit that share and promote our values within their work culture and encourage students to prioritise their studies while in employment.”
The event is free to attend and will take place on Friday 1 November from 11am-3pm at the Campus Centre Atrium.
