ÐßÐßÊÓƵ Dubai is moving from its current campus, in Academic City, to a new one in Internet City. The new campus sits alongside firms like Google, HP, LinkedIn, Microsoft and Facebook. The building is a stand-alone facility of 85,000 square feet and will serve around 3,000 students. It will feature: 

  • State of the art new teaching spaces designed to maximise the benefit of our innovative block teaching approach 

  • Open plan ground floor which will include student services, informal areas, cafeteria opening onto landscaped areas, career hub and workshops

  • Library with views to the palm enabling you to find quiet space to study

  • Computing, psychology and engineering laboratories

  1. Why are you moving locations?

    ÐßÐßÊÓƵ Dubai opened in 2021 and has grown in popularity since then, helping hundreds of students graduate into the careers they want. To strengthen our commitment in the region, we are investing in ÐßÐßÊÓƵ Dubai and our students.

    The new campus offers a more modern, better equipped building in a much more central location, right next to some of the world’s biggest companies. It is a commitment to you as a student and our long-term future in Dubai. It will allow us to build on the success of ÐßÐßÊÓƵ Dubai so far, making it easier to offer the innovative teaching we are known for in a setting which best suits the needs of students.

  3. When will teaching start on the new campus?

    From September 2024, all ÐßÐßÊÓƵ Dubai teaching will be on our new improved campus in Internet City. We are currently preparing the new campus for our students and staff. We will have teaching spaces available on the upper floors from September 2024 and the ground floor facilities available from November 2024, allowing you to take advantage of all the building’s benefits.

  4. Will it be possible to visit the new campus before teaching starts?

    Yes, we’ll be organising induction sessions for all current and new students so you can see the campus and get familiar with the facilities and the area. We’re currently refitting the interior of the building to make sure it meets our high standards for teaching and specialist spaces, but you can visit the area around the building anytime you’d like.

  5. Will the old campus in Academic City be closed?

    We’ll no longer be teaching on the old campus but accommodation and some services will continue to operate.

    There will be no changes to our curriculum or our degrees. In fact, we believe the change of location and improved teaching facilities and spaces is a positive for all students.     As a large UK university in Dubai, this move represents a significant investment in ÐßÐßÊÓƵ Dubai. The investment is based on the success of our current courses in Dubai. So, this is a strategic move which strengthens not only our geographical position, but the quality of the teaching experience we can give our students. It means we can build on the career opportunities we have already established in Dubai and beyond and connect students to a far richer network of potential employers.   8. How will the operation of ÐßÐßÊÓƵ Dubai be managed in the long term?

    In undertaking this move ÐßÐßÊÓƵ is strengthening its oversight of the Dubai campus. The university will directly employ all staff and manage the lease of the building ensuring that all aspects of the operation align with ÐßÐßÊÓƵ Leicester.

  2. Will the new campus have the same facilities as the old one?

    The new campus will offer a significant upgrade, improving your experience and giving you state-of-the-art facilities. There’ll be technical spaces, laboratories for engineering and psychology, design studios, computer and cybersecurity suites, and we’ll also be adding a new trading floor. Our expert teaching staff is helping us ensure that the classrooms, laboratories, and studios are tailored to create an ideal learning environment for you. The campus will also feature:

  3. How many floors does the new campus have?

    The new building has five floors with classrooms and specialist teaching spaces on the upper floors. The ground floor will have a cafe, games room, and large open multi-purpose spaces that can be used for events.

  4. Will there be wifi?

    Yes, there will be wifi throughout the campus.

  5. What will the specialist laboratories and facilities be like?

    We will have computing, psychology, and engineering labs, as well as a design studio. We’ll also be adding a trading floor and a cybersecurity suite. We’re currently working on fitting out the interiors of the building.   6. Will there be the same specialist equipment as at the current campus?

    The new campus will have similar equipment as the old campus – in some cases, we’re upgrading the facilities and the equipment. We’re currently working on fitting out the interiors of the building, and our expert teaching staff is helping us ensure that the equipment is tailored to the requirements of your course.

  7. Will there be an auditorium?

    We have created a town hall space on the ground floor which will be flexible for a number of different uses throughout the year, including lectures, events, and movies. We will also have a large open plan area on the top floor that can accommodate 150 people for lectures, events, open days, and similar.

  8. Will there be a games room, gym, and sports courts?

    There’s a games room on the ground floor, and there is an outdoor gym, a volleyball court, and a football pitch across the road. Students can use these free of charge but they require booking in advance.

Transportation and parking

  1. What support are you providing to help students get to the new campus?

    Because we know that the switch to a new campus could have a financial impact on some of you, we have decided to offer a discount on 2024/25 tuition fees for all our current students. This will be worth 1,500 AED and will help to cover travel on the Metro or parking charges.

  2. What is the nearest metro station and how far is it?

    The nearest metro station is Dubai Internet City, which is an 8-minute walk away. As mentioned above, we are offering a one-year-only 1,500 AED discount to all current students to help with transport costs and we are also arranging a free shuttle bus between the new campus and the nearest Metro stop (Dubai Internet City).

  3. Is there parking on the new campus?

    There is a parking lot with 250 spaces just in front of the campus building and more spaces close by. These parking lots will be operated by TECOM (previously RTA). Charges are being finalised and we will update this FAQ page when we know what these will be. There is also further, cheaper parking in Dubai Knowledge Park, which is about a 10-minute walk from campus but, as mentioned below, we will be running a shuttle from here to campus.

  4. Will there be a shuttle to take students to and from campus?

    There will be a service between the new campus and Dubai Knowledge Park parking areas, if you choose to park there. Details around timings and frequency are still being finalised and we will share these at the earliest possible opportunity.

  5. What if I’m traveling from further away?

    There will be a paid-for bus service available for students commuting to campus from Dubai and other emirates.

Accommodation

  1. Will there be accommodation at the new campus?

    Our aim is to provide ÐßÐßÊÓƵ-sourced accommodation providers close to Dubai Internet City – the location for our new and improved campus building. While there is no direct on-campus accommodation at our new Dubai Internet City campus, there is a range of accommodation providers. Please note each of the options listed include:

    • Fully furnished rooms with essential amenities
    • Segregated male/female areas, 24/7 security, and staff presence
    • An offer on a first come, first served basis
    • Transport to and from campusÌý

  2. Can we still live in the accommodation at the old campus?

    Yes, the accommodation at the old campus will stay open so you do not have to move if you like it there. If you’re already in a contract for your accommodation, we will organise transport to our new campus.

  3. Will there be a shuttle bus from the student accommodation to the new campus?

    We’re currently looking at transportation needs for all ÐßÐßÊÓƵ Dubai students so we can design a solution that works for their different needs. We will be sharing more information about this over the summer.

Teaching and learning

  1. Will there be any changes to courses or teaching staff?

    There will be no changes to your course or your teaching staff. We will continue to offer the same courses and degrees.

  2. Will we have the same facilities and equipment for our course?
