Overview

ذكذكتسئµ’s PEDR service:

The PEDR is an electronic record of a graduate's professional experience, development and competency in the practice of architecture. Monitoring and endorsing of Professional Experience Development Record (PEDR) sheets is conducted through the graduate monitoring service at the Leicester School of Architecture. This is a self-directed, work-based exercise which centres on the Royal Institute of British Architects’ (RIBA) PEDR sheets.

There is no formal syllabus and completing the PEDR sheets carries no academic credits. These are an essential component for taking the Part 3 RIBA/ARB exam and, once passed, gaining admittance to the register of architects held by Architects Registration Board.

Key features

  • You are required to have completed a minimum of eight Professional Experience and Development Record (PEDR) sheets in order to be eligible to take the RIBA/ARB Part 3 exam in architecture and to register as an architect in the UK.
  • At the Leicester School of Architecture at ذكذكتسئµ, you will need to enrol on the PEDR graduate monitoring service in order to have your PEDR sheets endorsed by a ذكذكتسئµ professional studies adviser (PSA).
  • You will use the online RIBA PEDR sheets to monitor and evaluate your experience in architectural practice under the supervision of a qualified person within the practice, called your employment mentor.
  • On enrolment, you will be allocated a PSA who will receive, evaluate and endorse, by signature, your PEDR sheets, which will make them valid as evidence of professional experience for the purposes of eligibility for the Part 3 exam.
  • You may enrol on the PEDR programme after completing your Architecture BA (Hons) or concurrently with the part-time BA/MArch course or after you have completed the BA/MArch course. You will automatically be enrolled on the PEDR programme if you start the PG Dip in Architectural Practice (RIBA/ARB Part 3) course, provided you have valid Part 1 and Part 2 qualifications and have already obtained four suitably endorsed PEDR sheets.

Overview

There is no formal teaching. You are required to be in full-time employment in an architectural practice whilst completing your PEDR sheets. You will access PEDR sheets via the RIBA website and will be required to have these endorsed by your employment mentor in practice and a PSA from the LSA.

You are required to undertake 24 months work experience, a minimum of 12 months of which must be post-Part 2 (normally completed alongside the PG Dip). Many students may find it useful to take two or more years of experience post-Part 2 in order to fully prepare for the Part 3 exam.

There should be one PEDR sheet for each three months of experience in practice, and you will need a minimum of eight completed and endorsed PEDR sheets before you take the Part 3 exam.

Contact hours
The graduate monitoring service at the LSA is conducted online, via the receipt and return of PEDR sheets. Attendance is not required.
