ذكذكتسئµ Replay allows students to access recorded audio-visual course material at any time.
Students can use it to view content from academic-led sessions for revision, as well as support for those with different learning needs. This can range from international students for whom English is not a first language, to students with specific learning differences such as dyslexia.
With ذكذكتسئµ Replay, students can revise taught material in the way which suits them best, whether it’s replaying a recording of a class or adapting written material shared in class using specialist software. They can do this anytime, anywhere as long as their device is connected to the internet.
ذكذكتسئµ Replay is part of a wider initiative called Universal Design for Learning (UDL), which aims to provide all students with a wider variety of ways to engage with their learning and teaching experience and helps support lecturers in addressing the different learning styles of individual students wherever possible.
Exciting changes are being made to ذكذكتسئµ Replay to ensure recordings are as accessible as possible.
Targeted students with hearing loss now have the opportunity to request closed captions be added to their recordings.
ذكذكتسئµ is committed to inclusivity and equality and this addition to the ذكذكتسئµ Replay service represents another move forward while leading the UKHE sector in these areas.
Student requests will be coordinated and reviewed by the Disability, Advice and Support team. If closed captions are deemed to be an appropriate reasonable adjustment, these will be activated on official module folders in ذكذكتسئµ Replay. (Closed captions can only be added to folders that align with Blackboard shells.)
If you believe you might qualify for the addition of closed captions please contact disability@dmu.ac.uk to arrange a conversation with a member of the DAS team.
Since the launch of ذكذكتسئµ Replay in 2016, there have been more than 2 million views of the service. Read some of the testimonies of students who have benefitted below.
“I am going forward in my studies with the confidence that I can and will be successful. I feel abled rather than different, the Universal Design for Learning has enabled me to feel this way.”
“I suffer with severe anxiety and dyslexia and often felt too worked up to attend lectures. Using ذكذكتسئµ Replay allows me to go back over the lecture in my own time and has helped to relieve my anxiety significantly.”
“I have tinnitus, and on days where it felt worse or started to flare up ذكذكتسئµ Replay meant I didn’t have to worry about missing anything during my lecture as I can review the slides after.”
