Dr Mariasole da Boit, ذكذكتسئµ lecturer in Biomedical Sciences, has won the from the Physiological Society.
The R Jean Banister Prize Lecture, in memory of former teaching fellow, pulmonary vascular system researcher and champion of women’s education Jean Banister, is awarded to early career physiologists.
The lecture will take place in room 00.36 of the Hawthorn Building, and will be delivered by Dr Calum Wilson, a Research Fellow at the University of Strathclyde, on Tuesday 23 November at 1.30pm.
Entitled ‘Putting the Spotlight on a Neglected Endothelial Organelle’, the lecture will explore cardiovascular diseases such as hypertension and stroke, and the ways in which these diseases work and present themselves. Dr Wilson will also discuss the need for new medications and treatments for failing arteries.
His work is supported by the grants from the British Heart Foundation and a Wellcome Trust Sir Henry Wellcome research fellowship, has been recognised twice by The Journal of Physiology Early Investigator Prize, and by a Hypertension top basic science paper award.
